Sylvie Buat-Menard

For years Sylvie Buat-Menard painted flowers, and painted them well, but she wanted a change. A friend told her about the class, she gave it a try, and she loved it. Five years on, she has no regrets: it opened up new horizons entirely.
She has improved enormously and grown far more confident about taking on difficult subjects. Above all she has fallen for oil painting, which she finds far more forgiving than the watercolour she used to do. What she loves most are seascapes and landscapes. Portraits she finds harder, though she's quietly proud of one she did of her husband, which everyone agreed was rather good.
Her heart belongs to the French Impressionists, Pissarro, Renoir, Matisse and Monet, and her inspiration to the places in France she knew when she was young. Above all there is Brittany, where she was born, and which still colours the way she sees a landscape.
