Katharyn Stuart

Katharyn Stuart had tried a bit of painting before, mostly watercolour, but what she really wanted was to be taught properly, from scratch. She found a class that would show her different techniques and give her a proper grounding, and just over a year in, she's enjoying getting to grips with oils. It has, she says cheerfully, highlighted how much she still has to learn.
She loved art as a child, then set it aside for many years, and is glad to be back. She works across mediums, mostly oils, acrylics and watercolour, and especially loves painting alongside other people, whether with friends or in class. She is still searching for her own style and building her confidence, and sees the group as a good place to begin.
She has a butterfly's eye in a gallery, heading not for any one artist but for whatever catches her attention, always curious about how the work was made. One painter she returns to is Anthony Eyton, still going at a hundred and three, still in his studio most days. His sheer undimmed passion for the work is the thing that inspires her most.
